Due to COVID Advisories and Restrictions

Due to Covid travel restrictions in Oregon and California affecting local crew & Portland musicians:

SACRAMENTO – As COVID-19 cases continue to increase across the country, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Oregon Governor Kate Brown and Washington Governor Jay Inslee issued travel advisories today urging visitors entering their states or returning home from travel outside these states to self-quarantine to slow the spread of the virus. The travel advisories urge against non-essential out-of-state travel, ask people to self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving from another state or country and encourage residents to stay local…. more“.

“California just surpassed a sobering threshold – one million COVID-19 cases – with no signs of the virus slowing down,” said California Governor Gavin Newsom. “Increased cases are adding pressure on our hospital systems and threatening the lives of seniors, essential workers and vulnerable Californians. Travel increases the risk of spreading COVID-19, and we must all collectively increase our efforts at this time to keep the virus at bay and save lives.” – Gavin Newsome

Why the Insurgent Art 2020 Benefit for KPFA?

“I strongly believe, as does Lawrence, that KPFA — Grassroots Free-Form Resistance Radio — is one of the most important voices out there when it comes to keeping us informed about what is really going on. KPFA is listener supported, taking no money from corporations, and staffed with dedicated, intelligent and compassionate people who want to make our world a better place by speaking truth to alternative lies, celebrating and supporting diversity, the arts and culture and providing a voice for those who resist injustice and work to change an economy that ignores our climate emergency. It is that simple and they need our support.

– George Cattermole, Owner/Operator, San Gregorio General Store

SCHEDULED PERFORMERS

FEATURING:

WONDERLY + BOX SET TRIO

Wonderly is a duo consisting of Jim Brunberg (formerly of Box Set) and Ben Landsverk (he’s played with everyone, including Smokey Robinson!). Wonderly is perhaps best know for the New York Times Daily Theme and Dear Sugar theme, but they have some amazing songs that they deliver with powerful harmonies, deft musicianship, and unusual showmanship. You’ll sing along, even on songs you’ve never heard! www.WonderlyMusic.com

“…with the addition of Ben Landsverk, I call that a full feast… It covers all of it: beautiful fingerpicking, matched harmonies, natter within the body of the song that leaves the audience cackling… exquisite touches of early Paul Simon in the guitar work, and lyrics and vocals to match. ” – No Depression Review

“Let’s make it clear that the songwriter/guitarist not only produces great music, but also great sounding recordings, going his own way with self-released albums that still set standards almost two decades on.” – HIFICRITIC 2020

“A possible case of ADHD may sound like an unlikely launching point for a musical career, but Lane Murchison traces his musical roots to the fateful day in fifth grade when he got suspended for drumming on his desk — and his teacher’s nerves — one time too many.” lanesmusic.wordpress.com
